Call for Global COE Associate Fellows for 2011 Academic Year

Each year we will call for applications from not only our own graduate school but also graduate schools around the world. The entitlement "associate fellow" is given for participation in the activities of this research centre. The requirement is that applicants be in a doctoral programme, and undertake to do research on theatre and film. Open recruitment is carried out twice a year, in spring and autumn, and successful candidates are appointed by detailed screening of the relevant documents. Those who are appointed receive the same privileges as the graduate students of Waseda University's Graduate School, and participate in the research activities of one of these research tracks. The results of their research are published each year in our refereed Bulletin. Associate fellows are urged to make significant progress toward completing their degree theses during their period of affiliation.

Visiting Research Associates (5 associates in 2007-8, 7 in 2008-9)

Visiting research associates are chosen by public recruitment. Each course has one or two visiting research associates who support the course management. They also aim to complete their doctoral dissertations.

Research Assistants (9 assistants in 2007-2008)

We employ research assistants who will submit doctoral dissertations in the near future. While supporting part of the overall course management, they conduct research and do surveys for doctoral dissertations.

Teaching of Visiting Professors

World-leading researchers are invited to be appointed as visiting professors for three months to teach courses for Global COE associate fellows, instruct them to write papers in foreign languages, and take part in conferences.

Support for Research Visits

Given recommendation by a programme member and sanction by a committee, Global COE associate fellows' research visits are financially supported.

Publication of the Global COE Bulletin (Papers Refereed)

The centre annually publishes the Global COE Bulletin Theatre and Film Studies. The Global COE associate fellows and visiting research associates are qualified to submit papers. In this bulletin appear papers that have met the high standards of the Referee Committee. Our intention is to increase even more the level of our young researchers.

Doctoral Dissertation Presentations (Twice a Year)

In Doctoral Dissertation Presentations, Global COE associate fellows who have submitted a thesis and taken their degree give lectures based on their dissertations. Each session is held not only to make available the results of the centre's research activities and human developments but also to give guidance to other researchers.
